Indiana University police are looking for anyone who may have witnessed the abduction of a student Friday afternoon.

The 19-year-old international student told police she was walking in the area southeast of the Jordan Avenue and Law Lane tennis courts on her way to the Student Recreation Center around 1:30 p.m. Friday.

The woman said several men came from behind and carried her to a small gray vehicle. She said she was driven to an unknown location where she was sexually assaulted. Police said one of the suspects may have had a knife. The student said she was then driven back to where she had been abducted.

IUPD is still working with the victim to obtain additional information and more detailed information about the abductors.

The woman was struck in the face but not seriously injured. She was taken to Bloomington Hospital for a medical evaluation.

Because the area of the abduction is well-traveled, IUPD is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have information about it to contact the Investigation Section of the IU Police Department at (812) 855-4111.

This story the lady is saying does not make sense.

Sounds like the bathroom case that turned bad a few years back

I can’t see anything in that story that doesn’t “make sense”. What are you referring to?

That is not a typical way an abduction, assault and drop off goes.

Stupid criminals do not return to the abduction point to drop her off. No mention of masks and this was in the afternoon. They could have drove right up on a police investigation and got caught.

Too many things that don’t make sense. We have to wonder if she did something and now is regreting doing it. this is her cover story to prevent her from getting in trouble with family or others

Wow, dude, you sure know your stuff about the proper methods of kidnap and assault. Almost like you’ve had plenty of practice, or something…

This sounds scary as hell. This is why I don’t walk alone without dogs. Not that the dogs help…but maybe they look intimidating. I mean 1:30 pm? Who would think that they would get abducted at 1:30 pm.

I hate to doubt the accuser in cases such as these, but I have to agree with “Sorry”. I’ll be very surprised if the story isn’t recanted in the next week. It’s just that time of year for people away from home for the first time.

Remember the last one, it was two men in a van, she even had detailed descriptions of them both. Turned out to be a false report.

I agree with Sorry, the story doesn’t make sense. If this is a hoax, it wouldn’t be the first time. There was a high-profile case last year where a yound woman fabricated a “rape” that never took place. A brazen kidnapping on broad daylight? This is Bloomington, not Beruit. Something doesn’t smell right here.

Oh, by the way, the woman who fabricated the “rape” (which she later recanted) was an IU student.

This is pretty scary from a female perspective. I hope it’s not true because it would put me at ease, but then again, I hope she isn’t lying because these are the kinds of lies that make life harder for everyone…real victims don’t get the sympathy and attention they deserve and men are unfairly looked at with suspicion.

People in many countries are abducted at 1:30pm in crowded places every day in most countries in the Americas. Canada and the US are really the only exceptions but that could change in the blink of an eye.
Depending on what she was wearing it could have been mistaken identity and that may explain the return, or opportunity only counting on non native english and a hard to explain story.

Women can carry Mace brand (best) pepper spray/tear gas ($10 automotive section of Kmart, replace every year, use old as backup in car), stunner, 130db alarm, and cell phone w/gps for less than $100.
